a pile of oranges

pile of orangesThis is the pile of oranges sitting on my kitchen counter.

Not so many weeks ago we had three washing baskets full to the brim with oranges. Needless to say we’ve been drinking a lot of freshly squeezed orange juice.

Today Mr. 3 made orange cup cakes with his Dadda. I was surprised to learn that the whole orange, skin and all, is just thrown into the food processor with some other key ingredients and BAM! – orange cup cakes. They made it look so easy.

  1. I am always jealous of people who live in places that you can grow oranges....needless to say, here in Europe it just can't happen. The cupcakes look absolutely great... hope they taste as good as they look!

  2. Hwooor, I love an orange cake! Must try Mr. 3's recipe!

  3. ...and hey, there's nothing better than the zest from home-grown citrus, is there? Unfortunalely the citrus gall wasp has weakened all the citrus I have tried to grow here, I just can't get them off to a good enough start to grow into strong healthy trees. Poo!

  4. We get oranges every week in our fruit and vege delivery. We have made orange cake, cupcakes, bread, muffins and juice! You name it we have made it! I thought oranges were a bit of a boring fruit but they really are such a great versatile food!
