veg about @ the start of spring

veg about

Lots of work has been going into my little garden in the past fortnight since spring began according to the calendar (but perhaps someone might want to let mother nature know!). The garden beds have been cleared of languishing winter crops, sheep manure turned into the beds and new seedlings and seeds planted.

So what is now growing in my garden?

  • artichokes
  • basil garden bed sept 2010
  • beetroot
  • carrots
  • chilli
  • coriander
  • dill
  • lettuce
  • parsley
  • peas
  • radish
  • rhubarb
  • rocket
  • rosemary
  • sage
  • silver beet
  • snow peas
  • spinach
  • strawberries
  • thyme

Now to tend to my little plants so they grow big and strong. And in the coming weeks there will be more planting too… zucchini and pumpkin are still to be planted but I wanted to give some of the other plants a chance to get a head start and establish themselves before they compete with the squash vines for space.

  1. Oh wow, that is an impressive list! Great job. You are going to love all that fresh produce.

Yep, mother nature is certainly giving us a battle in the garden this month. We still haven't got much of ours planted yet. :-(

Have fun watching them grow! It's very satisfying!

  3. Because of where we live, we hold off planting toms until Melbourne Cup Day when the frosts have definitely gone! Having said that, I am planting basil seedlings this weeken - might have to rig up a little cloche type arrangement to keep them frost free though!

Am loving the big list of things you are growing in your garden!
