shark attack!

Aren’t sharks amazing? Amazingly scary that it is!  I can appreciate how magnificent they are … but when I’m treading water or floating in the ocean I’ve got to say they’re a little too present in my thoughts. Steven Spielberg has a lot to answer for!

Using some shark drill that I had in my meagre stash I made my boy this summer outfit:

I really enjoy sewing with drill. So easy to handle and so durable for kids clothes. I made the hat using Nicole’s pattern – a great hat and an easy pattern to follow too. Lots of pictures for those of us that don’t really read instructions! The t-shirt is shop bought and I sewed on a shark appliqué that I made using the scraps and the shorts are an ol’ favourite now.

The boy loves his new threads.

  1. You're more daring than me, i really don't like floating in the sea, i feel like shark bait!! They are way to scary!! Do love the shark inspired ensemble, totally cool, love Posie

  2. Now that looks really good on him. I like how you made your own applique of a shark, not just cutting around their pictures. Cherrie

  3. No WAY ... that cost at least $50 from a very swish kid store ... Haaa...only kidding Sal.
He looks fabulous, you're so darn clever and they're so darn blessed to have a whizz like YOU in charge ;) Hope you're having a wonderful weekend Hunny Bunch xoxo.

  5. WOW! My four-year-old son would LOVE an outfit like that - he is shark obsessed! I'm not familiar with drill - is it a heavier cotton, perhaps like twill? I'll have to google it.

  11. i'm with posie - not a big fan of the ocean. sharks, jellyfish, blue ringed octopus, stone fish.. they all make me feel very paranoid. add that to a fear of water i cannot see the bottom of and the major itchies i get after being in salt water and this girl does not often go to the beach!

however, mr e looks like he is in his element there and all sharks beware else he may casually drape them over his shoulder to match his outfit. love that hat!! the colour of the inner brim really works well for him.

  13. hmm sharks. I am no water baby and sharks just fuel my dislike of open water. I always tell Chris (my water baby husband) when he scoffs at my fear, that I am a prime target for a shark attack as I am small and tender.

They are magnificent creatures though. THere is no denying that.

Great little outfit. You have had such a productive crafty year! Yay!
